Wahey I'm having a rant!

Hello reader and critic alike, welcome to what will hopefully transpire to be another brilliant blog! (You can decide on that)

Sorry to have held out on all of you for such a long time, I've been a bit shit with finding tunes, especially any that stood out as being 'totally bad-ass.' I hope you all have had a good listen to last weeks September Mix by Parametric, I'm still loving it and I have now also put up the tracklist for you to check out.

I've got back into reading other blogs recently, some old ones that I always liked, some new one's that have crossed my path. And to be fair it reminds me why I stopped looking at them, I do relise that this is indeed a blog, but it just seems to me that one has to sift thorough so many journals to find any decent tunes, really individual songs that stand out. I'm not about to start slagging off blogs that I myself take insipration from, but so many of them promote this throwaway culture that does no good to improve our music scene.

Recently into the spotlight are artists like Afrojack, Douster, Jack Beats. All these guys are very talented I know, their shit is 'off the chain,' but my god they turn out some crap. La Roux - I'm Not Your Toy (Jack Beats Remix). Doesn't that sound like crap from the off? Where is the edgy concept, the sublime passion or mastered creativity? It's not there. He made it in under a day I can bet you that and it's a shit song for the reasons above. And this is why no-one will remember Jack Beats in 5-years time. Sorry but he's a throwaway artist for a generation of fickle ravers.

Now it is fair to say that dance music is never that heavy handed, it's all about the good times. We're an unjudgemental lot and we try and see the good side to everything. But every now and then tunes come out that are so inspired, so far out there and creative, that I think it is fair to question the quality of what dance music is promoted day-to-day on blogs worldwide.

And now we arrive to what has started this rant all off. Green Velvet has been a legend of the scene since he hit it big with 'La La Land' in 2001. Known for his mad whisp of a green mohawke, he has been here from the begenning, partied with the best of them and it shows in his productions. None of this 'hey this guy sounds like afrojack,' (direct quote) this guy doesn't sound like anything else. I'm not sure if it is even dance music! This is confident and creative music production at it's best. Have a listen and see if you can guess when this was released, becuase I think it sounds pretty timeless.

Please support this truly great artist by buying his music here and keeping an eye out for his name on the bill of your local club!

Thank you RAKETA for the inspiration!
